SUMMARY:Poverty Simulation 2024
DESCRIPTION:Leadership Lewisville-Clemmons invites the public to join us for an eye-opening and interactive experience where participants take a look at poverty from a variety of different levels. The Poverty Simulation Experience presented by Crisis Control Ministry is designed to help participants begin to understand what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family situation\, trying to survive month-to-month.\n\n\n\nParticipants will role-play the lives of low-income families -- some are disabled\, some are seniors living on social security\, and some are TANF (temporary assistance for needy families) recipients. Tasked with providing basic necessities and shelter on a limited budget\, participants will interact with human service agencies\, grocers\, pawnbrokers\, bill collectors\, job interviewers\, police officers\, and others.\n\n\n\nSponsored by the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce\, Leadership Lewisville-Clemmons\, and the Shallow Ford Foundation.\n\n\n\n \n\n\nNOTE: Space is limited and if you claim a spot\, please be committed to it. A lot of time and effort goes into recruiting volunteers to make this experience happen and your participation helps create a more impactful experience for the LLC class.
