SUMMARY:Mary Alice Warren CC Blood Drive
DESCRIPTION:THE FOLLOWING IS NOT A CHAMBER EVENT\; please contact the event organizer with any questions.\n\n\n\nIf you are looking for a way to give back to your community\, the Town of Lewisville is hosting a blood drive from 1 pm to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday\, May 17th at the Mary Alice Warren Community Center in Lewisville.\n\n \n\nFor more information or to make an appointment to donate\, donors can go to www.redcrossblood.org and search by zip code or sponsor code: Town of Lewisville to make an appointment.\n\n \n\nWith a simple blood donation\, donors have the ability to help save the life of someone who could be a coworker\, loved one or neighbor.\n\n \n\n"We urge community members to donate blood and help ensure that patients in local hospitals have a supply of blood ready and waiting before an emergency occurs\," said Town Manager James Ayers. "There's no better feeling than knowing that your blood donation may give someone a second chance at life."\n\n \n\nBlood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds\, blood products must be constantly replenished\, according to the Red Cross. Blood is routinely transfused to patients with cancer and other diseases\, premature babies\, organ transplant recipients and trauma victims\, according to the Red Cross.\n\n \n\nThe short amount of time it takes to donate can mean a lifetime to a patient with a serious medical condition\, according to the Red Cross.\n\n \n\nThe Town of Lewisville urges eligible donors to join in the selfless act of giving blood.\n\nDonors of all blood types are needed\, especially those with types O negative\, B negative and A negative. According to the Red Cross\, type O negative is the universal blood type that can be safely transfused to anyone\, and is often used to treat trauma patients.\n\n \n\nThank you for supporting the American Red Cross!
