DESCRIPTION:Join us for the monthly Chamber Meeting! Our meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of every month! Check in starts at 11:20 and we officially start the meeting at 12 PM.\n\n \nOur May speaker is Cameron Kent!\n\n\n\nCameron Kent is a member of the North Carolina Broadcasters Hall of Fame.\n\n\n\nHe retired from television broadcasting after 32 years at WXII-12 News in Winston-Salem. He was nominated for 14 Emmy Awards for journalism\, including three times as best news writer\, and won an Emmy for his reporting on the Pentagon after 9/11.\n\n\n\nIn his second career as a writer\, Cameron has published six novels: The Road to Devotion\, When the Ravens Die\, Make Me Disappear\, The Sea is Silent\, Mayor Molly\, and his newest release\, The Oak Island Book Club.\n\n\n\nHis other writing credits include four films which have aired on NBC\, HBO\, Lifetime\, and at the American Film Institute. He's also written a Christmas musical\, "Welcome to Virginia" which has been performed at community theatres across the country.\n\n\n\nIn his spare time\, he loves running\, guitar\, golf\, and is active in Habitat for Humanity.\n\n\n\nHe is originally from Alexandria\, Virginia\, and a 1979 graduate of Wake Forest University.\n\n \n \n\nRSVPs must be received by 10 AM the Thursday BEFORE our meeting so we can give an accurate headcount to our caterer! Seating must be reserved for the meeting\, whether lunch is ordered or not! \n\n\n\nMonthly Chamber Meetings are a Chamber Member benefit. If you are not a member\, you are welcome to attend one meeting\, but you will be asked to join our Chamber for any meeting thereafter.\n\n\n\nOur 2023 Word of the Year is "Purpose!" So make the commitment to join us! We look forward to seeing you at the monthly Chamber meetings!
